A Wide Range of Intraocular Lens (IOL) Options at Dr Aggarwals Eye Clinic
At Dr Aggarwals Eye Clinic, we understand that each patient’s visual needs and lifestyle are unique. We offer a variety of intraocular lens (IOL) options to provide you with personalized vision correction after cataract surgery or refractive lens exchange. Here’s an overview of the different IOL options available at our Centre:
- Monofocal IOLs: Monofocal IOLs are the most common type and are covered by most insurance plans. They provide clear vision at one distance, typically either near or far. If you choose a Monofocal lens for distance vision, you will require reading glasses for close-up tasks.
- Monofocal IOLs (EDOF): Now Monofocal IOLs with Extended Depth of Focus are available. They provide more clear vision at distance and intermediate. If you choose a Monofocal lens (EDOF) for distance and intermediate vision, you will require reading glasses for close-up tasks. They are a versatile option for achieving clear vision in various daily activities.
- Trifocal IOLs: Trifocal or Multifocal IOLs are designed to provide clear vision at multiple distances. They can reduce your dependence on reading glasses or bifocals. These lenses are an excellent option if you want to minimize your reliance on glasses for both near and far vision.
- Toric IOLs: Toric IOLs are specifically designed to correct astigmatism, in addition to addressing cataracts. These lenses can significantly improve your un-aided distance vision and reduce the need for glasses or contact lenses, particularly if you have astigmatism.
- Aspheric IOLs: Aspheric IOLs are optimized to enhance contrast sensitivity and provide sharper vision, particularly in low-light conditions. They are a great choice for individuals who value visual quality and clarity.
- Blue Light-Filtering IOLs: These IOLs are designed to filter out a portion of the harmful blue light that can contribute to retinal damage and eye strain. Blue light-filtering IOLs can help protect your eye health and reduce the risk of age-related macular degeneration.
- Scleral Fixated IOLs: In cases where the natural lens cannot be replaced with a standard IOL due to trauma or complex ocular conditions, scleral fixated IOLs are surgically implanted to restore vision.
Our experienced ophthalmologists will work with you to determine the most suitable IOL based on your visual requirements, ocular health, and lifestyle preferences. Our goal is to provide you with the best possible vision and enhance your quality of life after cataract surgery or refractive lens exchange.
